By downloading or using CallRecap ("Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by Cortex Edge FZ LLC, registered in RAK FZ, UAE. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Cortex Edge FZ LLC.
CallRecap is an Android application that provides call recording, transcription, AI-powered analysis, and productivity features. The Service is available in Free, Pro, and Max tiers. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time.
CallRecap is available to users aged 13 and older. However, we strongly recommend that users be at least 18 years of age. Users between 13 and 17 ("Minor Users") may use the Service only with the express consent and active supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on behalf of the Minor User and assumes full responsibility for compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws, including call recording and consent laws. If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your child has been using CallRecap without your consent, please contact us immediately.
CallRecap is a tool. You are entirely and exclusively responsible for how you use it.
4.1 Legal compliance. You represent, warrant, and agree that your use of CallRecap — including every recording, transcription, and analysis you create, store, share, or export — complies with all applicable laws in every jurisdiction where you, any party to a recorded call, or any recipient of exported content is located at the time of the action.
4.2 Consent laws vary significantly. Call recording laws differ substantially across jurisdictions. Some require the consent of all parties to a call before it may be lawfully recorded; others require only one party's consent; some prohibit recording in specific contexts regardless of consent. It is your responsibility to know which rules apply to each of your calls and to obtain any required consents in advance. The availability of CallRecap in your country does not imply that any specific recording is lawful.
4.3 Notice obligation. Where local law requires it, you must audibly inform the other party or parties that the call is being recorded and obtain their consent before the recording begins. CallRecap does not play a beep, tone, or announcement automatically; that obligation is exclusively yours.
4.4 Prohibited uses. You will not use CallRecap to:
4.5 No legal advice. Cortex Edge FZ LLC is not a law firm. Nothing in the Service, its interface, its notifications, or its documentation constitutes legal advice. The availability of any feature does not imply its legality in your jurisdiction. Illegal recording may result in severe civil and criminal penalties — including imprisonment — for which Cortex Edge FZ LLC bears no responsibility whatsoever. If you are unsure whether a specific use is lawful, consult a qualified attorney before recording.
4.6 Right to terminate. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion and without prior notice or refund, to suspend or permanently terminate any account where we have reasonable grounds to believe the user has violated applicable recording laws, these Terms, or the rights of third parties.
CallRecap offers a 3-day free trial so you can evaluate the Service before any charge occurs. No payment is required to start a trial.
After the trial, subscriptions are billed monthly. Payments are non-refundable. No refunds or credits are issued for any unused portion of a billing period, unused features, or any other reason. You may cancel at any time via the Manage Subscription option in the app or by contacting us. Upon cancellation, paid features remain active until the end of the billing period. Your data remains accessible.
The only exception is a verified technical failure that completely prevented use of the Service during a billing period — contact us and we will review on a case-by-case basis.
EU & UK consumers: By starting your subscription and accessing paid features immediately, you expressly request that the Service begin before the 14-day statutory withdrawal period expires and you acknowledge that you thereby waive your right of withdrawal once the Service has commenced.
Your content is yours. You retain all ownership rights to your recordings, transcriptions, AI analyses, action items, reminders, and any other content generated from your calls ("Your Content"). Cortex Edge FZ LLC does not claim ownership of Your Content.
Limited license to provide the Service: By using CallRecap, you grant Cortex Edge FZ LLC a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to process Your Content solely for the purpose of providing, maintaining, and improving the Service to you. This includes temporarily uploading audio for transcription, generating AI summaries, and extracting action items. This license terminates when you delete your account.
No training on your content: We will never use Your Content — including recordings, transcriptions, or analyses — to train, fine-tune, optimize, or develop any artificial intelligence or machine learning models, whether our own or any third party's, without your explicit, separate, and informed opt-in consent. This is a core commitment, not a default that can be changed unilaterally.
AI service providers: To provide transcription and analysis features, we transmit your audio and text to third-party AI providers (currently OpenAI for transcription via Whisper and analysis via GPT-4o). These providers process your data solely to generate the requested output. Under our agreements with these providers, your data is not retained beyond the processing session and is not used to train their models. For details, see our Trust & Security page.
Anonymous telemetry for product improvement: We collect anonymous device and usage telemetry (such as device model, Android version, app language, feature usage frequency, and crash reports) to improve CallRecap. This telemetry contains no personal identifiers, no recording content, and cannot be linked to any specific user. This is standard practice and helps us fix bugs, improve compatibility, and prioritize features.
Future opt-in program: In the future, we may offer a voluntary, opt-in program that allows you to contribute anonymized data to help improve our services (similar to "Help improve [product]" settings in other apps). Such a program would: (a) be disabled by default; (b) require your explicit action to enable; (c) only use anonymized and de-identified data; (d) be revocable at any time. We will never enable such sharing without your consent.
CallRecap's design, code, branding, and all non-user-generated content are the exclusive property of Cortex Edge FZ LLC.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CORTEX EDGE FZ LLC EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING:
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CORTEX EDGE FZ LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH DAMAGES WERE FORESEEABLE.
Without limiting the foregoing, Cortex Edge FZ LLC shall not be liable for: lost or corrupted recordings; inaccurate transcriptions; misleading AI analysis outputs; any legal consequences arising from your recording activities; service interruptions; data loss; security breaches; or your reliance on any output provided by the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims shall not exceed the total subscription fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD $100.00 — whichever is less. These limitations apply regardless of the form of action, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Cortex Edge FZ LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or relating to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your recording of any call, including any claim that such recording was made without legally required consent; (c) your violation of these Terms; (d) your violation of any applicable law; or (e) any claim by a third party that your use of the Service caused them harm.
This indemnification obligation survives termination of your account.
11.1 Distribution. CallRecap is distributed through the Google Play Store and other channels we designate. Your use of the Service remains governed by Section 4 and all applicable laws.
11.2 Right to modify availability. We reserve the right to add, remove, or restrict availability of the Service in any country at any time, without prior notice, in response to legal, regulatory, commercial, or operational considerations.
11.3 Uptime. We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance or unforeseen issues may temporarily affect availability. We are not liable for any loss or damage caused by downtime.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion, with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time. No refund is issued upon termination. Upon account deletion, your data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Disputes shall be resolved through the courts of Ras Al Khaimah. Any claim arising out of these Terms must be brought within one (1) year of when it arose, or it is permanently barred.
Class action waiver: To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree that any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis only, and not as part of a class, consolidated, or representative action.
We may update these Terms. Significant changes will be communicated via the app or email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
