Getting started

Download CallRecap from Google Play. On first launch, grant microphone and phone permissions when prompted — these are required to capture calls.

For VoIP calls (WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.), install CallRecap Connect from callrecap.app. Enable the accessibility service when the setup guide asks you to. Connect runs in the background and never requires any action after setup.

Free: 60 minutes of AI transcription per month. Summaries, action items, and reminders included. Minutes reset on the 1st of each month.

PRO ($14.99/mo): 600 minutes/month, priority transcription, PDF/DOC/CSV exports, unlimited cloud backup.

Max ($29.99/mo): 1,800 minutes/month, all PRO features.

A 3-day free trial is available for PRO.

No. CallRecap detects and records calls automatically. When you hang up, transcription and analysis start immediately. Your recap — summary, action items, and reminders — is ready within a minute.

Recording

Regular phone calls (incoming and outgoing) are captured automatically by CallRecap Main.

VoIP calls — WhatsApp, Telegram, and other apps that route audio through your speaker — are captured by CallRecap Connect. Connect must be installed and active for VoIP support.

Yes. Go to Settings → Excluded contacts and add any contacts you want CallRecap to skip. Calls from excluded contacts will not be recorded or transcribed.

Common reasons a call isn't captured:

Phone permission not granted — Check Settings → Permissions → Phone. All three phone permissions must be allowed.

Battery optimization is blocking CallRecap — See the troubleshooting section below.

VoIP call without Connect — Install CallRecap Connect for WhatsApp/Telegram support.

The contact is excluded — Check Settings → Excluded contacts.

Free minutes exhausted — Calls still record but transcription is paused. Minutes reset on the 1st of the month.

Recording laws vary by country and region. In some jurisdictions, only one party (you) needs to consent to recording; in others, all parties must be informed.

It is your responsibility to comply with applicable laws in your area. We recommend informing the other party at the start of any call you intend to record.

Transcription & AI

CallRecap transcribes in 50+ languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Hindi, Turkish, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, and more. The language is detected automatically — no configuration needed.

Each minute of audio processed for transcription counts as one minute. A 5-minute call uses 5 minutes. Minutes are rounded up to the nearest minute. Calls shorter than 20 seconds are not counted.

Free accounts get 60 minutes/month. PRO gets 600. Max gets 1,800. All reset on the 1st of each month.

Yes. Open the call detail, tap the menu (⋮), and select Re-transcribe. This uses minutes from your current balance.

Billing & subscription

Open CallRecap on your phone, go to Pricing, and tap Upgrade to PRO or MAX. Payment is processed securely through Google Play Billing — you can manage or cancel anytime from your Google Play subscriptions.

You can cancel anytime from the Subscription screen inside CallRecap — tap Manage subscription. You'll keep PRO access until the end of your current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months.

Need help canceling? Email us at info@callrecap.app and we'll take care of it immediately.

This is usually a sync delay. Force-close CallRecap and reopen it. If the issue persists after 5 minutes, email us at info@callrecap.app with your account email and we'll fix it manually within a few hours.

Troubleshooting

If CallRecap isn't recording or processing calls correctly, follow these steps in order:

1
Check permissions. Go to your phone's Settings → Apps → CallRecap → Permissions. Make sure Microphone, Phone, and Contacts are all set to Allow.
2
Disable battery optimization. Go to Settings → Battery → Battery optimization (or similar, depending on your phone brand). Find CallRecap and set it to Don't optimize or Unrestricted. On Samsung, also check Background app refresh.
3
If using VoIP apps (WhatsApp, Telegram): make sure CallRecap Connect is installed and its accessibility service is enabled. Open Connect and verify the green "Active" status.
4
Check your minute balance. Open CallRecap → Subscription. If your balance is 0, transcription is paused until your minutes reset on the 1st. Calls are still saved as recordings — they'll be queued for transcription or you can upgrade.
5
Still not working? Email info@callrecap.app with your phone model, Android version, and a description of what's happening. We'll help you get it sorted.
